A vehicle’s LATCH rating may be good, acceptable, marginal or poor. It’s based on how easy it is to use the lower anchors and the upper tether. For a “good” rating, the hardware must be accessible, properly positioned and clearly marked.
It’s important for Duluth parents to understand that a rating below “good” doesn’t mean that your child will be unsafe in that vehicle. The ratings are about ease of use, not safety. Child restraints can be properly installed even in vehicles with “poor” ratings, but more responsibility falls on you to do it correctly.
